I recently moved to the island and am super excited to be bringing my gentle, slow yoga practice to Newport.
In yin yoga we use breathwork and props to support the body in long-held poses to allow you to fully relax into the pose. This helps to relieve muscle tension and leave you feeling calm and centred.
My first class is at 10am on Friday 7th June, above FitBox Gym, 15 Holyrood Street. I can't wait to see you there!

Modern life and the habits of a lifetime can lead me into thinking that I have to be constantly "doing", that I need to be productive in order to be valued.
But what if I could believe that I am inherently valuable? That just being here is enough?
Maybe then I would give myself permission to take a break from all the doing, and just be. Maybe then I would start to notice all the beauty in the world that I was taking for granted. Maybe then I would start to let go of all the unnecessary tension I was holding in my body.
Even as a yoga teacher I still have to remind myself every day that rest is just as important as work. Last week I took part in an 8 day segment as part of my Feldenkrais professional training, then I went straight back to my day job without a break. This weekend I decided to not teach yoga and give myself a day off because I needed that time to switch off and integrate all that had happened over the last 2 weeks. I don't regret that decision and I'm looking forward to getting back to teaching next week feeling recharged and able to bring some of the new things I've learned into class. I look forward to seeing you there too!
Every practice has to start somewhere. Come and join me for a new class series aimed at beginners to teach the foundations of alignment and flow. Each class will build slightly upon the last, but you are welcome to join the course at any time as we will review the main concepts in each class.
The class will be in person only and limited to 4 people in the studio, so you will have plenty of space to try things out in a comfortable setting.
In the first few classes you can expect to learn:
- sun salutations - the foundational flow!
- using your core for support - and what exactly are bandhas anyway?
- back bending safely - tips and tricks for avoiding back pain and injury

A regular yoga practice can help us learn to recognise when our emotions are taking over and guide ourselves back to balance and equanimity. I'm taking a break from teaching next week, but there's still time to join me for Flow to Restore today at 6pm.
